Amazon AppDev 2026 — Fire TV strongest-fit recommendation
Challenge ask
Amazon’s Build, Ship, Shape: Amazon Developer Hackathon asks for a demo-ready Fire TV app on Fire OS or Vega OS, shown in a <3 min English demo video on a real Fire TV device or Fire TV/Vega simulator, plus GitHub (public with an OSS licence or private with Amazon collaborators + testing@devpost.com), product feedback on every tool/SDK, track (+ optional mini) selection, and optional friction logs.
- OS: Fire OS or Vega OS; any framework (React Native, web, Android Kotlin/Java, etc.).
- Priority categories (not mandatory): AI-enhanced viewing, sports, fitness, family entertainment, multi-modal UX, computer vision.
- Stage Two judging is equal-weight: Tech Implementation, Design, Potential Impact, Quality of Idea.
- Prizes: max one track prize + one mini-challenge prize.
- Eligibility: India eligible as of access date.
- Deadline: submission ends 23 Oct 2026 12:00 PT (PDT, UTC−7) = 24 Oct 2026 00:30 IST. Post-period feature work does not count.
- ~4 weeks: from 26 Sep 2026 to deadline ≈ 27 days — MVP + demo + feedback + friction logs, not full Appstore certification.
“Strongest fit” here means maximising alignment with published criteria and Stick reality under a solo build — not a promise of placing. Placement among a large registrant base is unknowable.
Judging and creative vs obvious

Friction-log bonus (not a fifth equal criterion): optional Stage-1 recommendation of up to +10% to Stage-2 spreadsheet score if logs include task, steps, expected vs actual, severity, workaround, and actionable suggestion. High ROI for a solo builder who will hit RN/Vega/adb friction anyway.
Creative vs obvious (Rules)
- Obvious: basic streaming UI; simple video player; remote-controlled game; (AWS Builder Idea) a thin single Bedrock text call sold as creative.
- Creative: AI-enhanced viewing that adapts to household patterns; CV fitness using the TV camera; multi-modal UX combining voice + D-pad + visual in a single flow.
Because Rules name the creative trio, those motifs will be crowded. Clear View differentiates on Stick-true a11y craft and app-owned jobs OS does not productise as a companion — not by renaming Copilot.
Stick no-camera constraint
Typical Fire TV Stick SKUs list no user-facing camera in Amazon device specifications. Stick-native “TV camera” computer-vision fitness is not faithful to that hardware class.
- Stick feature tables list ports, codecs, Wi-Fi, Alexa mic on remote — no Camera feature row in Stick sections parsed for this research.
- Marketing that mentions “view live camera feeds” is typically display of external smart-home feeds (picture-in-picture), not an onboard Stick sensor for app CV.
- Echo Show devices in the broader Fire TV family do list cameras; that does not make Stick-native CV valid for a Stick demo.
Implication: reject Stick-native CV fitness as the primary pitch. Clear View needs no camera.

One-sentence pitch: Clear View is a Fire TV Stick app that makes the living room usable for low vision, elders, and high cognitive load: one profile turns a dense grid into a simplified, high-contrast, focus-loud experience with guided remote training and voice “where am I / what is this?” — beyond flipping OS VoiceView, Magnifier, or High Contrast alone.

C. Fitness Coach (non-CV)
Illustrations + voice cues + timers + household streaks; never imply TV-camera pose. Rules creative exemplar is CV-with-camera — Idea discount. Elevate after Kids if Access collapses.

- If considering Sports runner: accept fixtures-only honesty; plain-text names; no logos.
- Kiro Crew product workflow for “alone qualifies” documentation; AWS credits form by 21 Oct 12:00 PT if using paid runtime.
- Whether real-device demo outscores simulator — Rules allow either; soft preference only.
- Pre-existing IP — if any, prepare “changed in window” narrative.
This recommendation maximises fit to published criteria given Copilot lock-out and Stick no-camera. Win probability is unknowable. Treat as optimisation, not forecast. MVP can clear AK1/AK2 only if executed as specified — craft-dependent.
